Day 10

Apparently the sophomores on my floor don't know it's quiet hours this week. Apparently it's making me really TO'd.

Cinco de Mayo. Thats "May 5th" to my non-spanish speaking friends. The BMP had a Mexican themed dinner, but I stuck to salad. Actually, I wanted some fried ice cream, but they were out when I was ready for dessert. Not a bad thing since I did my run early tonight and I had some M&M's earlier this afternoon.

Last year on this day was the Clinton JV meet. I ran the 3000m which is the first race. And I have no idea what inspired me to eat nachos at a party in Ms. Lorenzen's class 7th period that day. I mean, nachos are never a good idea. Clearly they aren't a good night when you are racing in less than two hours. I felt very sick after my race, but thinking back on it, I don't really regret the nachos. If you're going to eat nachos, you can't regret them. I still got second in the race and at that point in the season it didn't really matter. Plus I had a great time at the par-tay.

Clearly, I didn't have to work tonight, I got this friday confused with next on the work schedule. Should have run before dinner just to use time in the most efficeint way I could, but that option doesn't really work for me. Also, I think I should probably stop drinking soda. Again.

Tonight was just one of those runs. I was trying to make an estimate about where 1.5 miles out would be instead of 2 then started questioning if the distance was even 2 at all since it's becoming easier to run. It makes sense though, that it seems to go quicker the more you do it. And since I think I'm running 4, I'd probably be able to do 4 just fine on a different course. I think half the battle is being mentally prepared, and those of us who aren't naturally blessed with speed (most Horans?) know that more than the speed demons. In any case, the good thing about a there-and-back course vs. a loop is that you know you can make it to the turnaround. Loops just go on for ever. And if you get to the turnaround, you have to come back. And running is faster than walking, afterall. I did stretch for a ew minutes at City High, but other than that I did it.

I dont know if you guys all realize this, but blogging is really one of the first things I do when I get back. Still sweaty and everything. Mostly I just want to get updated before my family goes to bed. And if you were wondering, I wear the same outfit to work out in all the time. Like these nike capris Kate picked out for me at MOA - wore them three times this week. And this t-shirt has some cheese crumbs on it from some FritoLay Munchies I ate earlier this week. Guess I kind of just pick up whatever is on the floor.

Mom got me these extra-long socks for Easter since I have enormous feet, but they are thin so I have to wear two pair. Guy shoes may be longer, but they are wider, too. The bottom of my shoe sticks to the ground a little when I run and I can hear the sole peel off the cement. Like suction cups. Maybe they just need to be broken in. They need to be spotted from blood, again, because the cut on my ankle broke again.

All right, well I'm going to go study.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Todays Mileage: 4 miles

Since I'm the early riser in the group, I never get this read until the next morning. Somedays, I'm not sure which running day that I may be commenting on...

I remember Clinton...
