Probably the reason Dad thinks I´m such a great writer is because I sound like him, Mary. Also, did you see that Diana, our BF, is Miss Iowa?

Going out last night was a bust because I was in a bad mood. I´d been trying to call the bfand kept getting told to call back at a specific time, at which point I would be told to try again. Long story short, he can call here if he wants to talk.

Anyway, like I said, Calle Betis, where we all go out, was a bust (do you like that I keep using the word `bust´) has this bar that a bunch of people go to play in a beer pong tournament. I don´t play, I´m not good. There´s free sangria, though. Except when we got there they were out of Sangria. And I was still in a bad mood because it´s like 35 minutes away from home and everyone was going to a dance club and that´s not really my thing so we walked right back home.

Ahh.

Today my class met at the local archeological museum and it was about the longest class of my life. Except that tomorrow will be when we meet at 8 am and head on back to Córdoba, the po-dunk (??!!!) town I got stuck in last Saturday. Maybe I can skip out on the mesquita and go back to the cafes for coffee.

Mercedes will have to make me a bochadillo. A bochadillo is a sandwich. I like chorizo, which is basically salami, or pavo, which is turkey. A veces (sometimes) we do queso, but I´m not entirely sure I like cheese on my sandwich like that. Anyway, they just pile meat on a miny loaf of bread, like a 6 inch from Subway. Or Quiznos. We all know Quiznos makes a good sandwich. Everyone eats them all time. For instance, during half time at the soccer game, everyone in the entire stadium got out their bochadillos during half time. Think everyone in Kinnick sitting down simultaneously and getting out their sack lunches. It´s hilarious.

Today we went to see Ocean´s 13. In English with Spanish subtitles. Better than Ocean´s 12 at least, but is still pretty predictable//unbelievable. I was late so I missed the preview for Harry Potter. I´d also like to see Pirates 3, but it´s slim pickings when it comes to seeing flicks in English.

Trust me Katie, I am eagerly awaiting my spa week. I will need a manicure, pedicure and facial, at least. I don´t know if it´s the heat or the Proactive I bought in a vending machine at the mall, but my face has never been oilier. I don´t even wear make up anymore it´s just so gross.

Also, my shampoo is basically out because I´ve had two spills. The bottle is such that it sits on the lid--opening. A few mornings ago, the cap had busted open and shampoo had spilled all over the cabinet it sits on top of. I thought it was the conditioner, so I started setting it upside down, but then the shampoo leaked again yesterday. Both have built up air pressure that I can´t squeeze out without an overflow of product. Grr.

Mostly I shower at night and do the wet hair thing where I pretend it dries wavy and then I make real waves with my curling iron. The real reason I shower at night, though, is that my feet get really dirty and I think it´s gross to go to bed with dirty feet.

Mercedes is finally doing laundry today. It´s almost been two weeks!

That´s all I´ve got this afternoon.

Love you, miss you, and thanks for the comments!

TTYL :)

How is it that you know more about the Miss Iowa Pageant from Sevilla than I do IN IOWA? Does that mean that she competed head on with our 'sister' Jessica? Although I don't know what her talent is, the chance that whatever she does could beat flaming batons is just so minimal, she never really even had a prayer. Plus, Diana turned out to be real smart. Huh. Anyway, Quiznos probably makes the best sandwich I know of.

Update- as a direct result of this entry I took the liberty of visiting the Miss Iowa website where I learned more about this fabulous competition. Did you know that Jessica was FIRST RUNNER UP!? I mean, knowing that she couldnt win due to the impressive baton talents of Diana, that's the BEST she could have done! I dont know about you, but I'm tuning in to the Miss America when Diana Competes. She could be a contender. Although she does have a few perhaps fatal flaws, in that she is not a minority or in any way physically disabled. And she's not blonde. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for her....

keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't fall flat on her ass like miss usa did at the miss universe pageant. did you see that? i kind of felt sorry for her, and when it first happened, i actually thought they were doing some tv spoof and i wasn't watching the real thing. then, the next day when i heard how bad the crowd was booing her, i actually did kind of feel bad for her.
i started my big summer project: painting our house. i won't have a ton done when people come for the bachelorette, but it is already looking a lot better. jim, matt's dad, went with me to home deopt to get paint and helped me get started. we're redoing the entry way that is basically like walking into a dark cave, and lightening it up so it's less cave-like. jim is painting the ceilings and doing the edging, and i roll. i think i'm going to try and do the bathroom tomorrow by myself. it's not rocket science, right? and not that many people see it if i screw up, but i think the whole purpose of this is to make the house more appealing for future buyers. whatever. i feel pretty good about getting wedding things done today. we're still waiting for a lot of reply cards. i do not plan on calling people who didn't reply; they just better know better than to show up!
matt went to a concert tonight...the band chevelle? anyone heard of them? one of those loud rocker bands. lucy and i chose to stay home. i finally have time to read, so i bought one of those fast read lawyer-grisham type novels to get back in the groove. maybe if mom finishes some of the books she got for mother's day she can bring them up. just a thought. get reading!!
that's all from the flight deck (that's our our principal signs her weekly newsletters)
p.s. i've got a lead on some pretty cool bridesmaid gifts!! he he

Be careful out there. Last night you just got a little "heads up" about keeping your wits about you. You are doing a great job being off on your own, something most of us never do. Take a break to relax and read a book for a couple days. I think you are getting tired from everything, you need to get your energy back for the final leg of your trip. We love you and miss you.

Oh and what a wild leg it will be!! I've got our hotels booked in Paris, Berlin, Munich and Rome. The other places are only one night and we will be arriving and departing at reasonable hours and only staying a night, so those shouldn't be as hard. After this weekend (and Superhero Saturday!) I should be able to focus more on our plans.

I am so ready not to work anymore.
The Starbucks across the street is nice though, I'm enjoying a cafe americano right now. However, not to the fault of the employees, I have not enjoyed my experiences there on my last two visits. I hate getting in line behind people that don't know what they want, have kids, are ordering for people they are on the phone with and can't pay quickly and get out of the way. BOOO.
Oh, sounds like the department head meeting is getting over, I should pretend to be working...
Love ya, miss ya.
