I'm ready for the weekend.
Two classes tomorrow, they should go quick, then work most of the afternoon and early evening.
No plans really, for going out. I read the police blotter in the DI everyday and usually see a name I recognize. Which is impressive, because I don't know of many people.
Football on Saturday. The Iowa game may not be that exciting, but Ohio State is at Texas and Penn St. is at Notre Dame. Can we get some wins for the Big 10? One of the girls in my pledge class is going to ND to see the game. I wouldn't mind if they won at all.
I've been riding my bike a lot lately. It's about a mile to campus, so I usually get in 4-6. Tonight I rode to Fitness East only to discover I'd forgotten my pass at Theta. Getting into town is a breeze, becausee it's all downhill, unfortunately that means the ride back takes some work. I've played around with my gears to see what works best. Also, I've taken several different routes to test the slopes of the hills. I'd rather go for awhile at a steady incline than do a huge hill where I'm not even moving. I don't like hills I've got to get my butt of the seat to walk or pump harder.
I also try to avoid high traffic areas. There are a lot of bikers and we are supposed to share the road, but I don't like to. However, I'd rather share the road with cars than the sidewalk with pedestrians. So many pedestrians. Lots of bikers, too. On sidewalks you are supposed to walk your bike. This is enforced downtown and on campus. I pulled from a street onto a sidewalk, because that's where the bike rack is, and a cop tapped his horn and yelled out the window at me that I should walk my bike the 5 feet to the rack. Whatever.
My econ teacher, who I liked, from Kirkwood actually was a few feet in front of me with another professor. He said he'd take my bike real fast and ride off if it looked like I was going to get a ticket so I could say, "what bike?" Then he made the usual joke teachers make about how I'm always getting into trouble because they know I don't really get into trouble. And then he told the professor he was with that I was a talented business student who was going to throw her life and never make any money because I wanted to be a journalist. And I laughed and reminded him I'm not in fact a talented business student, but the rest was true.
Good times on the ped mall.
Okay, TTYL

Biking in town is always a bit of a challenge. But I prefer the streets as to the bike paths because there are fewer dogs. IC drivers should be more used to bikers than a non-college town like the QC. But as a general rule, motorists don't like bikers in THEIR space, i.e., the streets and roads.

As for the hills, that's what makes biking interesting for me. Criterium Financial, training for life.
