To recap- I watched more of the US Open and the Notre Dame game yesterday than Iowa, because it was embarrassing. At least we got the victory. Even if it was double overtime :(
Today was the championship of the US Open - #1 Federer vs. #9 Roddick. I was cheering for Roddick because even though he's pretty dec, he really was the underdog. Federer is just amazing. He makes all his opponents look like amatuers.
Wiffleball was basically a joke. Our opponent never showed up, so we played a frat for 1.5 innings. The ball never came to me and I wasn't one of our 3 batters. Easy 10 run rule for them. Tomorrow is the first of a full week of events for another philanthropy, and is stair painting (don't ask, I don't know) but I've been recruited because of my high level of art skill. What can I say?
For my Social/Scientific Foundations of Communication class, I have to do a content analysis (not sure what this entails, yet) of an article. My TA sent us a list of 40 articles and we had to send back five titles that interest us in the hopes we might be assigned one. "Mine is Strength in numbers? The experiences and attitudes of women in sports media careers." Sports media career sounds mildly interesting because I like sports, the media, and Erin Andrews. Most of the choices seemed to be things like "how violence on tv affects youth" and the generic things that I dont believe anyone really cares about. Who wants to research that for their job? Not me.
I did pick up my application for the school of journalism, which is due next week. Basically, I have to write a statement of interest, but I'm not sure what to include in it. My resume is relatively up-to-date, and I have the necessary GPA, so I don't anticipate trouble getting in. The Tippie App can be completed online, and I only have to write a statement of interest left, but that's even harder than journalism because I'm not sure I have much of an interest in business. It's just practical.
So for this marathon business - I'm just going to state the obvious and throw it out there that it's unlikely I can do it. I mean, I'll sell my Ohio St. ticket and come watch, and then the money makes up for the lost registration fee. But I'd rather not humiliate myself. I'd consider running a half if I was allowed to switch races, but I don't think it's allowed. And the next three weeks are going to be very frustrating trying to convince myself to do something that I don't want to and probably can't do. Your thoughts (actually, I'm not sure I want to know...)?
Kate, you are cool if kids come hang out in your room during their free periods. I want to come up sometime this winter and watch one of your games.
Susan, if you have any neat gift ideas for Big Sis week, let me know. Ours aren't sounding that great...A tote from Greek gear...pillowcase...lame..
Mary, I didn't talk to you much this weekend. You should come to Theta for dinner or we should go out.
Dad, keep up the work on the blog. Anticipation level for Frank and Mel is high over here.
Mom, thanks for taking care of my cat.
TTYL :)

i agree with kristen. you should not come up to the race. you should figure out some way to pay dad back and still go to the ohio state game. it would be a miserable three weeks for you and a miserable race weekend to top it all off. there is no half, and even if there was, it would not be worth missing the BIG GAME. i'm excited for the run and i'm excited for people to come visit (mom, dad, susan, you are still expected) but i felt bad that you were going to be missing something so fun to come do something you were not committed to. let's just look at is as a lesson learned: you can't not train for a marathon. i'd still like to do one someday when the timing is right for both of us. have a great monday.
love
Frank and Melanie miss you too...They send their best and will be advising you of their adventure soon.
