Hi,

How is everybody? I'm tired, per usual. And eagerly awaiting spring break. And my first kiss. And my first alcoholic beverage.

Sounds like I'm headed to Minne for a couple days over break. The twins are possibly getting tickets to the Big 10 Tourney and I feel like if we host an NIT game, that'll be over break, too. And Phillip got Seth Gorney's autograph. (I know...)

Mary and I are still running. Barely. Somehow it feels like we ran further and faster when we started. Maybe not further. Maybe thats why we're not faster.

I'm suffering from some sort of anxiety, probably familiar to most college sophomores called "what do I want to do with the rest of my life?" To graduate with a journalism degree, you have to have a double major and I this passed semester Henry Tippie and I decided business was not the path for me. And that's okay. It's a lot easier to get a Liberal Arts degree, anyway. And, well, the jury's still out as to how marketable a LA is.

However, if you add up my prebusiness credits, I've in effect (affect?) wasted one year. Lucky that I took extra classes in the summertime... My gen ed requirement's are also fullfilled, which means I have to start taking classes that count for something. By the transitive property one can easily prove (maybe I should look into geometry, is that a major?) that I don't have much time to take to figure out what I think I want that extra major to be.

I'm in an American Politics class right now, on Wednesday nights with Mary, actually. But, we only meet once a week which probably wasn't the best option for me. I forget about the material until the next Wednesday afternoon and have also missed a handful of basketball games. However, I enjoy the material for my Legan and Ethical Issues in Communication class which deals a lot with the courts and cases and how the courts decided and whyI've been thinking for a long time now that if I spend a year wandering jobless after graduation, law school might be calling. Dad always wanted a lawyer in the family, right?

So Poli-Sci is a viable option.

Then, I've visited the Office for Study Abroad. The only thing I can even say is it's been very difficult for me to find a program that I'm interested in that allows me a decent amount of time away, but can get me back in the country before July 20th. What's more is I had hoped this would fullfill my Spanish minor, which is what the department's website indicates. My advisor said, though, that I would probably have to take one more class when I get back. Which, I mean, is fine and everything but I'm ready to be done with this spanish business. I'm in a class now, but I hadn't taken one in a year so it's more difficult than it should be. But this advisor woman swears I won''t be able to get enough spanish once I come back from Spain. Probably I'll end up taking student loans out to go for a semester. Probably I'll want to major.

I mean, I do need a double major. But I'm just not feeling the Spanish major right now. Maybe once I'm really in the swing of things again...

Anyway, I did find a program I think would work for me, and is sponsored by the university. Initially, I found one online that I chose because of the dates, but the advisor advised against it and was really pro-UIowa stuff. I'll continue to look at both.

The Iowa program I'm looking at would send me to Seville from May 18 to June 30. My friend Rene is in Seville right now, and has visited before and likes it. It seems more traditional with lots of architecture and sweet bull fights. Alicante is on the meditteranean and I think that'd be really great to be but probably I wouldn't learn spanish and the date won't work anyway. I at least want to visit Barcelona. It's an option for the whole trip, but I would spend less time there for more money.

Note that the date for Seville shoes I would leave before the Green Bay Half. Well, the QC Distance Classic has a half on May 13. And, should I go, this is great. I need to know there's a race for me to make me go work out every day.

Still, Spain leaves all of July. Here's a great idea. I'll just stay there and travel. I mean, we're not doing Tahoe. Dad can come meet up with me and we'll go get some Tuscan Red and check out the route for the Tour.

I guess there's always UITV. Or home. I've been a lot better this semester than over break, but I feel a sinking feeling that I'll be miserable this summer...home or in IC. yikes. preventative measures maybe necessary.

We'll see. I needed to sort out my thoughts on all of this and the blog seemed like a pretty dece place to do it. Maybe I'll make updates (shorter) more regularly, if I can remember.

TTYL :)

sweet post char. you should for sure do spain, and we can do the 'distance classic' instead. if we're in the QC, we can probably get a larger fan base to come out and support us anyway. and there were a bunch of thetas in seville and they LOVED it. sounds like that might be a good option for you...

I will not be making that visit to Espana. Nice idea, but...

Glad to see you back on-line. Keep it up.

Alright alright, I'll come back to Spain. I did write my senior thesis on Gaudi. Alicante. Like you would even go to class there - I was there. Crazy town. They burn things down. Good sangria though. And maybe, just maybe. If the St. Louis 1/2 mari goes good, we could make the QC one a family event...
